PM Modi inaugurates Asia's largest solar plant in Rewa district

Madya Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a750-megawatt solar plant via video conferencing on Friday. The plant is located in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district. The plant is considered to be the Asia'slargest plant till date. PM dedicated the project to the country and said that it will make Rewa an "epicenter of energy in this decade".

"Today, Rewa has scripted history. Rewa will be identified with the name of mother Narmada and the white tiger. Now, the name of Asia's largest solar power project has also been added." he said. He further added that solar energy is the major medium of energy not just for today but for the 21st century. Meanwhile, he congratulated the people of the district along with the state Madhya Pradesh and gave his best wishes. While concluding, PM also informed that apart from Rewa, work is in progress on solar energy plants in Shajapur, Neemuch, and Chhatarpur.

PM added that as we are reaching the heights of development, the self-sufficiency in electricity is a must for AatmaNirbhar Bharat. He also mentioned that solar energy is sure, pure and secure and the project of renewable energy will benefit every corner of the nation including every section and citizen. RUMSL (Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited) is the joint venture of Solar Energy Corporation of India and Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. The total investment in the development of the Solar Plant project is Rs 138 crore. Chief Antonio Guterres (United Nations) praised India for the achievement even in the COVID-19 pandemic.
