Goa CM Pramod Sawant Tests Corona Positive

Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has tested positive for coronavirus. The Chief Minister, 47, himself gave this information through his Twitter handle on Wednesday. CM Sawant has also urged to take precautions to those who have been in close contact with him. Previously, on Tuesday, he attended a meeting with state officials via video conferencing to review the functioning of the COVID-19 care centres in the state.

In his Tweet, he wrote, "I wish to inform all that I have been detected COVID-19 positive. I am asymptomatic and hence have opted for home isolation. I shall continue to discharge my duties working from home. Those who have come in my close contact are advised to take the necessary precautions."

Currently, there are 4275 active coronavirus cases in Goa, with 196 deaths whereas India's COVID-19 tally crossed the 37 lakh-mark on Wednesday with 78,000 new coronavirus cases while the death toll crossed the 66,000 marks. However, under the guidelines of Unlock-4, the state government has permitted to operate bars and restaurants in Goa.

Mr Pramod Sawant is the fourth Chief Minister who has been tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has wished him a speedy recovery.
