New Delhi, December 4: The Indian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Taranjit Singh Sandhu congratulated the touring delegation of Indian Federation of Working Journalist (IFWJ) for acting as a bridge in improving relations between Indian and Sri Lankan media.

"It's heartening to see that journalist associations of two countries are carrying out exchange programmes on a regular basis. It not only improves relations between scribes of two neighbouring nations but also between two countries," Sandhu said during his meeting with the IFWJ delegates who met him on Monday at Indian High Commission.

The IFWJ delegation is led by Hemant Tiwari and includes many senior journalists. Tiwari explained IFWJ's commitment to foster better relations by two countries through such exchange programs. He said IFWJ will play host to the Sri Lankan journalists who will come under the banner of Sri Lanka Press Association to India early next year.

Tiwari also requested the Indian High commissioner to take up issues like renovation and beautification of Sita Mandir in NurwaIliya in central Sri Lanka with Indian government as the temple needs care. Tiwari also presented a logo of Kumbh Mela to Mr Sandhu. The logo was specially given by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to Mr Tiwari to be given to Indian High commissioner. Earlier the delegation called on Niteen S Yeola, First Secretary, in the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka and apprised him of IFWJ's exchange program.
