Mob lynching in Shamli, police were spectators

New Delhi, Nov 28: A man was dragged out of a police vehicle and lynched in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh. A video of the incident has gone viral and the police can be clearly seen as mute spectators and not doing any attempt to save the life of the man. One person has been arrested and the victim has been identified as Rajendra.

Ajay Kumar, SP, Shamli said that a police team had gone to arrest Rajendra after receiving a complaint of creating nuisance in the area. He was taken into custody, but in the video, the villagers are seen thrashing Rajendra inside the police van and then pulling him out of the van. He is seen lying on the road and was later declared dead. 

Kumar admitted the negligence on the side of the police force, he ordered the suspension of the police officers and said that stern action would be taken against those who are responsible for this incident. A departmental inquiry has also been initiated, said Kumar.

The accused have been identified as Hashim ( arrested), Rifu, Sadakat, Vasar, Sahadat and Aamir.
