New Delhi, Nov 26: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will lay the foundation stone of the Kartarpur Corridor. Kartarpur corridor is a road corridor which will link the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, Pakistan with Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur, Punjab. The corridor will help the Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit the holy place throughout the year with convenience.

Kartarpur Sahib holds a great significance for Sikh pilgrims as the Gurudwara is the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev and the demand for building a corridor has been a long pending demand for the Sikh community.

The Indian side of the corridor starts from Gurdaspur district of Punjab and extends up to the international border between the two countries.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley applauded this decision. He tweeted, “Today is a historic day when foundation laying of Dera Baba Nanak-Kartarpur Sahib corridor is taking place. This day will be cherished in times to come when pilgrims will regularly visit the holy shrine across the international border hassle free.”
