New Delhi, Nov 14: An Innova taxi was carjacked on Wednesday at gunpoint by four men near Madhopur area, Pathankot, Punjab. The men were travelling to Madhopur railway station from Jammu railway station but they fled with the vehicle after entering Punjab.

The taxi driver said that the men were talking in Punjabi and one of them asked the driver to stop the car because he had to vomit. Police have registered the case and started the investigation, but they don’t see this as a terror act.

Pathankot SSP Vivek Sheel Soni said, “We are not ruling out anything, but it does not look to be a terror act. It seems more likely a snatching.” Punjab Border Range Inspector General SPS Parmar said, “We have the picture footage of the incident and they will be nabbed soon.”

Following this incident, the security has been tightened in Pathankot and the nearby areas. The terrorist attack of 2016 on the Indian Air Force’s station was carried out by following a similar pattern.
