New Delhi, Nov 13: Marvel comic writer Stan Lee known for creating fictional superheroes including Spiderman, X-Men, Iron Man, the Fantastic Four and many more passed away at the age of 95.

Lee began his career in 1939 and joined Marvel comics in 1961. He is considered as a legendary comic writer and the creative force behind the rise of Marvel comics. There were superheroes before Marvel, but they were God-like characters like Superman and Wonderwoman created by DC comics, but Lee created superheroes with which normal people can relate with. He created superheroes who have real-world problems apart from fighting with supervillains. His characters were complex, flawed, had love affairs and endured a feeling of insecurity.

His superheroes have been adapted into movies which took the box office by storm, most of which were made by Disney after it acquired Marvel in 2009.

Disney CEO Robert Iger said, “ A superhero in his own right to Marvel fans around the world, Stan had the power to inspire, to entertain, and to connect.”
