#MeeToo movement :Voice raise against sexual assault

Lucknow:The movement which has shaken the world is taking over the internet from last few weeks .Yes, it is about #MeeToo movement .The Me Too movement or #MeToo is a movement against sexual harassment  and sexual assault of women. #MeToo has spread virally in India from October 2018. Hashtag is been used on social media in an attempt to demonstrate the  widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in  the workplace. It followed soon after the sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein. Tarana Burke, an American social activist and  community organizer, began using the phrase "Me Too" in 2006,  and the phrase was later popularized by American actress Alyssa  Milano, on Twitter in 2017. Milano encouraged victims of sexual  harassment to tweet about it and "give people a sense of the magnitude  of the problem".


#MeToo movement in India:


MeToo movement has expanded it's wide arms in India as well. In continuation to  this chain engulfing the whole media and entertainment industry many  bollywood celebs along with journalists, activists has joined this movement.

Several women have bravely come out with stories about harassment and  sexual abuse at workplace at the hands of the powerful and higher-ups.

Ever since Tanushree Dutta, in an interview, alleged Nana Patekar for misbehaving with her from then many well-known comedians, journalists, and actors have been  named and shamed on social media in the past few days as allegations  of sexual misconduct continue to burst out. Her interview gave courage to many  others to speak out loud and since then, women from several fields  have raised their voice against the sexual assault they suffered.


Many from the film and music industry have been called out by actresses, journalists, fans and others. Some of them are:


1.Nana Patekar:


Tanushree Dutta alleged that Nana Patekar tried to harass her on the  sets of the film Horn Ok Pleassss back in 2008. Dutta had filed a  complaint at the time but no action was taken back then. It was after  Dutta recounted the allegations again recently that many women came  forward with their #MeToo stories.


  Nana Patekar is an Indian actor,writer,philanthropist and filmmaker,  mainly working in Hindi and Marathi cinema.

He had won many awards including National filmfare award .


2.Alok Nath:


TV writer and director Vinta Nanda alleged in a Facebook post that  Alok Nath sexually assaulted her almost 19 years ago. She also alleged  that Alok Nath harassed lead actress Navneet Nishan on the set of the  show. 

Alok Nath’s lawyer now says that the actor is planning to file a defamation case against Vinta Nanda and Sandhya Mridul.


Alok Nath is an Indian film actor known  for his works in Hindi cinema and television.He has won many awards as well.

3.Vikas Bhal:

A female employee at Phantom Films alleged that Vikas had sexually  harassed her when the crew of Bombay Velvet was in Goa for promotions.  She alleged that Vikas insisted on dropping her off to her hotel room  and harassed her in an inebriated state.


Vikas Bahl is an Indian film producer, screenwriter, and director,  known for his work predominantly in Hindi cinema.


4.Kailash Kher:


A journalist came forward with her allegations against Kailash Kher.  Her account said that the singer touched her inappropriately when she  went to interview him. Even a fan from Kolkata said that Kher had been  harassing her. Next, singer Sona Mohapatra also came forward with her  allegations where she accused the singer of harassing her on multiple  occasions. Kailash Kher issued an apology on October 8.


Kailash Kher is an Indian film music composer and pop - rock based  singer, he sung songs with a music style influenced by Indian folk  music and Sufi music. He  has sung more than 700 songs in movies apart from 5 hugely popular and successful private albums.
