Air India aircraft hits airport wall while taking off, all passengers safe

New Delhi, Oct 12: An Air India flight traveling from Trichy to Dubai with 133 passengers on board hit the ATC compound wall at Trichy airport and was diverted to Mumbai airport. After inspecting the aircraft at Mumbai airport, it was declared fit for operations. All the passengers are reported to be safe.

An internal inquiry has been set up to investigate the incident. A statement was issued by the Air India Express which read that the airline had informed about the incident to the aviation regulator, Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The statement further read that the engineering team is assessing the damages and a ferry flight was sent from Kochi to fly the passengers stranded in Mumbai to their destination.

The officials said that aircraft’s wheels hit the wall, but it is not known yet that whether it was a technical glitch or error from the side of the pilot.
