New Delhi, Aug 31: Former Finance Minister, Yashwant Sinha on Thursday said at a book launch, that in India, there is a tendency to worship people in power and said that Narendra Modi is seen as a “charismatic leader” because he is sitting in the PM’s chair.

Sinha said, “There is a 'national' weakness in us that we start worshipping people in power. We need to get rid of this." He further said that "Today Modi is seen as a charismatic leader because he is the Prime Minister, he will not be charismatic when he will not be in power, that is how people look at it."

He also commented on the nature of PM by saying that in the old days, he was a humble man, but he has now risen rapidly.

Sinha left the party recently and is critical of Modi on various issues like Demonetisation and Rafale deal.
