Heavy rain took life of 37 in Uttar Pradesh

Lukhnow, Jul 28: At least 37 people have died in rain-related incidents in the past 2 days, an official said.

The maximum number of rain-related deaths were reported in Agra, where six people have died. Two died in Meerut because of  48 hours of rain. One each in Kanpur rural, Mathura, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Rae Bareli, Jalaun, Jaunpur, Firozabad, and Amethi.

Over two dozen people have been injured in the rain incidents like landslide, house collapse etc.

The heavy rain continued for 48 hours from the last two days, it has been raining whole night in the state capital. The most part of the city turned into an island of sorts with waterlogging.

The Chief Minister of Utter Pradesh Yogi Aditya Nath has announced an ex gratia of Rs 4 lakh each of the family whose member killed in the rain incident.
