Odisha sets phase wise plastic ban in the state from Oct 2- Newstimes News

New Delhi, Jul 11: Odisha will have phase wise plastic ban in the state, starting in the five municipal corporation and Puri town from October 2 to prevent environment, as affirmed by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik in a programme at the state secretariat.

In a programme named 'Ama Mukhyamantri Ama Katha', the chief minister Naveen Patnaik declared the plastic ban from October 2, at the state secretariat. The first phase plastic ban will cover Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Berhampur and Sambalpur municipal corporations and Puri town.

Speaking about the environment prevrention, he said, ''If we all plant trees and take care of it, the environment will be protected and human beings can live in good condition and we can work for the development of our family and society''.


The department of housing and urban development and panchayati raj will look after the urban and rural areas respectively, whereas the forest and environment department will control the plastic pollution and its responses in the state. 


The effects of plastic on the enviroment are threatening, being a non biodegreable waste, it has chocked the oceans and have affected lives of several aquatic as well as wild animals. Concern and initiatives for plastic ban and environment prevention have increased nationwide.
