India leaves behind France to become worlds 5th biggest economy- Newstimes

New Delhi, Jul 11: Leaving France behind in terms of economic growth, India has become the world's 6th biggest economy, according to the latest figures by the World bank for 2017.

India's Gross Domestic Product amounted $ 2.597 trillion at the end of the last year, against France's GDP of $ 2.582 trillion.

The Indian economy revived strongly from July 2017, after a series of several blames on the economic policies of Modi government.

Manufacturing and the consumer spending were the main drivers of the Indian economy last year after a slowdown in the economy due to demonetization and GST.

India has doubled its GDP within a decade and is expected to became the 3rd largest economy within next 10 years. At the end of 2017,  Britain was still the 5th biggest economy with the GDP of $ 2.622 trillion.

The US is the world's top economy followed by China, Japan and Germany.
