Last convict of Holocaust dies before starting sentence-Newstimes News

Berlin, Mar 13: The last convict of Holocaust, Oskar Groening also known as bookkeeper of Auschwitz died at the age of 96.

Groening was the last convicted person for playing a role in the massacre of Jews during the regime of Germany. He was sentenced to four years in prison for his role in the murder of victims of Auschwitz’s concentration camp.

He was in the hospital when he died and prison authorities are yet to receive his death certificate, reported a German magazine.

The delay in the sentence was occurred because of the legal disputes and his poor health.

Groening never murdered anyone himself but, played the role of an accessory as he counted cash at the time of arrival from the victims of Auschwitz. He later admitted that he was morally guilty of taking part in that heinous crime.
