Arjuna awardee Prasanta Karmakar suspended for 3 years- Newstimes news

Bangalore, March 1: Para swimmer Prasanta Karmakar has been suspended  for three years by Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) after he was found recording a video of female swimmers during an event in Jaipur last year. 

The Arjuna Award awardee, Karmakar was honoured with the Major Dhyan Chand Award in 2015 and Bheem Award in 2014. He has also been conferred with Swimmer of the Year award in 2009 and 2011.

He was the 2016 Rio Paralympic games swimming team coach.

The 37-year-old is the first disabled swimmer to represent India at the World Swimming Championship in Argentina and to bag a medal.

The incident took place during the National Para Swimming Championship, which was held in Jaipur from March 31, 2017 to April 3, 2017.
