Auto Expo 2018: New Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift launched in India

New Delhi, Feb 8: The first day of Auto Expo 2018, the most important motor show in India, saw a multitude of car, motorcycle and scooter manufacturers showcasing their concept and upcoming models.
The largest gathering of auto manufacturers in India will see innumerous launches, concepts and many hybrid/electric vehicle showcase. 

   Third generation Swift

Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest passenger car maker on Thursday launched the new Swift (third generation) in the Auto Expo 2018. Price of the third generation Swift starts from Rs 4.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 8.29 lakh for the diesel variant.
Swift, which is one of the best selling cars of Maruti Suzuki, will be available in 12 variants, with two engine and transmission options.


All petrol variants will offer ARAI certified mileage of 22 kmpl and the diesel variants will give a mileage of 28.4 kmpl.

    New design

The design is completely new, albeit reminiscent of the Swift and get a large grille up front with bug-like headlamps with projector lens and LED DRLs on the top trims. The car also gets diamond cut alloy wheels and LED taillights to complete the look.
With respect to the engines, Maruti Suzuki has carried over the tried and tested powertrains. The 1.2-litre K-Series petrol makes the same 82 bhp and 115 Nm of peak torque, while the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel remains unchanged as well and churns out 74 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both mills are paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an automated manual transmission (AMT). 
Apart from the Swift, Maruti Suzuki has showcased a host of new offerings at the Auto Expo 2018. The showstopper remains the new Future S concept, e-Survivor concept and more.
The first day of the Auto Expo 2018 saw concepts from Maruti Suzuki, Renault, KIA Kotors along with the launch of the Hyundai Ioniq and Elite i20 (2018) among others. Hyundai i20 (2018) Petrol starts from Rs 5.34 lakh (ex-Delhi). The Diesel version starts at Rs 6.73 lakh and goes way up to Rs 9.15 lakh.
