Lucknow. An oil tanker with some International crew and 22 Indian sailors has been missing for the past three days.

The tanker is loaded with 13,500 tons of gasoline and last contacted when it was off the coast of Benin in the gulf of Guinea.
“We regret to announce that contact has been lost with the AE-managed MT Marine Express while at Cotonou, Benin. 
Last contact was at 3.30 UTC, February 1 (9 a.m. IST). Authorities have been alerted and are responding. Our top priority is the safety of the crew, whose families have been contacted,” the management said in a message on social media. 

The ship is owned by Japan’s Yamamaru Kisen and second ship to go missing in the last one month.

The region near Benin, especially the Gulf of Guinea, is known to be pirate-infested and several ships have been targeted in the past.
