India lift fourth U19 World Cup title, smashed Australia

New Delhi, Feb 3: The young India cricket team, led by Prithvi Shaw, have won the U19 World Cup at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, on Saturday.

The boys brushed aside Australian by eight wickets and became the only country to win the trophy four times. 

  Star Manjot Kalra

Manjot Kalra who knocked a sensational hundred and some disciplined bowling helped the Indian boys to grab the trophy for the record fourth time.
Manjot remained unbeaten on 101 while he was ably supported by Harvik Desai (47*) as India crossed the finish line in just 38.5 overs.

   Gill, man of the series

Shubhman Gill, India's top scorer with the bat was given the Man of the Series award, having put 372 runs in total in the tournament while the final's centurion Manjot Kalra was named man of the match.

Having lost skipper Shaw (29) and Gill (31), Kalra displayed commendable calm and composure to see the team through. Harvik Desai (47 not out) provided the support Kalra needed after India were 131 for two in the 22nd over, needing another 86 for victory.

   Ballers out-performed 

Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Ishan Porel, Shiva Singh, Anukul Roy they all took  two wickets and steered India towards victory.

   BCCI awarded Dravid

BCCI has announced a cash reward of Rs. 50 lakhs for coach Rahul Dravid  while the U19 cricket team members will get Rs. 30 lakh each. The support staff of the team will receive Rs. 20 Lakhs for their efforts in the tournament.
Kalra, reflecting on his hundred and India's win in the final, said: "Great feeling. Enjoyed a lot. Conditions were very good. It was a flat wicket to bat on. In the team, it's been a great environment."
