Women call off anti-CAA protest in Lucknow temporarily, says, We'll be back

Lucknow: Women protesting at historic clock tower against Citizenship Amendment Act have suspended their protest in the view of coronavirus scare in Lucknow. 

 

The Ghanta ghar protest which started 66 days ago. The protest against CAA and NRC was initially started by a small group of women which eventually turned up a mass protest. Several FIRs were lodged against the protesting women but that did not cater them. 

 

On Monday, the protest was suspended early and the protesters went back to their houses leaving protest stage intact with a symbolic mark 'duppatas'. Which means they will return once the situation comes back to normal. 

 

The women protestors submitted a letter to the police commissioner, saying they were suspending their 66-day-long protest temporarily in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

 

One of the protesters stated that, "CAA and NPR are internal issues of our country and we will protest against it once again after the lockdown enforced by the government ends.
