Coronavirus: India's RAISE 2020 Artificial Intelligence Summit postponed due to COVID-19

New Delhi: The Indian government on Friday announced that nation's first summit on Artificial Intelligence (AI) is delayed due to the outbreak of coronavirus. The summit was scheduled to be held in the national capital in October. While, Apple iPhone 9 Launch Event is also suspended due to the outbreak. 


The title 'RAISE' stands for Responsible AI for Social Empowerment. The summit was announced as a global meeting to discuss and exchange the ideas on Artificial Intelligence. The main objective was to discuss how AI can be used for social transformation including key areas like healthcare, agriculture, education and smart mobility. 


The registration for the summit is open for all the participants. Abhishek Singh, President and CEO, National e-Governance Division (NeGD), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said, " All the AI Startups are welcome to participate in the 'Pitchfest'. It is a platform to showcase the ideas for use of AI in accelerating social empowerment. Further Abhishek Singh said that, "This summit aims to create a data-rich environment as India has potential to become world's leading AI laboratory that will transform everyone's life.
