New Delhi. Bharatiya Janata Party MP Manoj Tiwari has rebuked Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's statement that if the National Register of Citizens (NRC) were implemented in the national capital, Tiwari would be the first one to have to leave Delhi. Manoj Tiwari called Kejriwal's comment "disgraceful." He questioned, "If you are from Bihar, Haryana or Madhya Pradesh... do you become part of the NRC?"

"Kejriwal should be ashamed of himself," added Manoj Tiwari. He mentioned that the National Register of Citizens is about illegal immigration and targets those who have unlawfully entered the country.
Evidently, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had asserted in the morning that Tiwari would be the first to have to leave Delhi if NRC was implemented in the national capital. After the remark, Manoj Tiwari said that Delhi CM's comment emphasizes his belief that those from outside Delhi have no right to live in the union territory.
For the uninitiated, the NRC was recently updated for the state of Assam with the purpose of identifying people who had illegally entered the state from neighbouring countries. The Assam NRC has run into a controversy over worries that genuine residents of India have been identified as illegal immigrants on the list.
