Former Union Minister & eminent Supreme Court lawyer Ram Jethmalani breathed his last

New Delhi. Ram Jethmalani, the eminent lawyer and politician breathed his last at the age of 95. He had served the tenure of Union Law Minister and chaired the Bar Council of India. Starting his career as a lawyer in Sindh, before partition, he went onto become one of the highest-paid lawyers in the Supreme Court of India. 

In 1988, he became a Rajya Sabha member. While in 1996, became the Union Minister of Law, Justice and Company Affairs during Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government's regime. He was elected to Rajya Sabha from RJD unopposed in 2016. 
Jethmalani faced explusion from BJP due to his letter to party president Nitin Gadkari accusing BJP leaders of being "silent against the huge corruption" within the ruling UPA-II government. He had handled multiple high profile cases like defamation charge filed by Arun Jaitley on AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal, defending the assassinators of Rajiv Gandhi in Madras High Court and represnting RJD chief Lalu Prasad in the fodder scam.
