The detained Kashmiri leaders are not charged with sedition or criminal offence: NSA Ajit Doval

New Delhi. Ajit Doval, the National Security Advisor stated on Saturday that Pakistan is once again trying to instil trouble in Jammu and Kashmir. Doval notified that around 230 Pakistani terrorists have been recently spotted in the Valley, of which a few has been arrested. The NSA alleged Pakistan of indulging in false propaganda to bring unrest in the Valley. He also claimed that "Pakistani communication towers 20 kilometers along the border" have been identified. 


In the media briefing on the ground situation in Kashmir post repudiation of the Article 370, followed by lockdown Doval stated “We are determined to protect the life of Kashmiris from Pakistani terrorists even if we have to impose restrictions, terror is the only instrument Pakistan has to create unrest.” 
Doval revealed that all landline connections in the State have been restored. Out of 199, only 10 police station areas in Jammu and Kashmir have prohibitory orders in place.


--Several mainstream leaders of Kashmir viz, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah among others are under preventive detention since the repudiation of Article 370
--They are in preventive custody till environment is created for democracy to function: Ajit Doval
--None of them have been charged with criminal offence or sedition and can challenge their detention in court, informs the NSA
