FCRA Violation Case: CBI raids SC senior attorney Indira Jaising's residence

New Delhi. Supreme Court advocates Indira Jaising and Anand Grover are facing CBI raids at their house in connection with Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act violation case. The Central Bureau of Investigation is also conducting raids at her NGO Lawyers Collective office in Mumbai.
The NGO license had previously been cancelled by the Centre. A case of FCRA violation against Anand Grover and the Lawyers' Collective
had been lodged by the CBI earlier,  on the complaint of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The Supreme Court of India had issued a notice to Indira, Anand and their NGO Lawyers Collective on a plea alleging their violation reagrding
FCRA case. Indira and Anand claim the raids as political bitterness of BJP  because the duo had pursued various cases of 2002 Gujarat riots
and also filed a plea in Sohrabuddin case against BJP president Amit Shah.
The case is based on the donations received over a tenure of 4-5 years since 2010, by the Lawyers' Collective. According to the MHA
reports, the NGO had not undertaken any specific task but was engaged in lobbying. Certain guidelines issued by the Centre were also not
Condemning the raids, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “I strongly condemn CBI raids on well known senior advocates @IJaising and Mr Anand Grover. Let the law take its own course but subjecting veterans who have all through their lives fought for upholding the rule of law & Constitutional values is clear vendetta.”
