New Delhi. Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear the petition filed by the Congress MP and party women wing president Sushmita Dev looking for relevant directions to the Election Commission of India. Sources reported that the petition was filed against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah over alleged violation of Model Code of Conduct in the election speeches.

According to the sources, Sushmita has complained Modi and Shah delivered hate speeches and invoked armed forces in their campaign, inspite of a clear ban by the EC. The bench of judges presided over by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi will hear the petition tomorrow.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Sushmita Dev alleged that the Election Commission was not taking action on her complaint of the MCC violation by Modi and Shah. In the petition, Sushmita Dev reportedly claimed that the two leaders violated the poll code under three categories - polarisation of votes, invoking armed forces in the campaigns, taking out rallies on an election day.
